Focus Areas

A Better Future Foundation organizes its work around social issues that are essential to democratic societies, yet remain under-supported within existing philanthropic frameworks, particularly in Japan.

Rather than concentrating on areas that already receive substantial attention, the Foundation focuses on challenges that are structural, long-term, and often difficult to address, including issues related to democracy, human rights, and social protection. These focus areas guide the Foundation’s grantmaking, partnerships, and convening activities, and reflect its commitment to supporting a more open, free, and resilient society for future generations.
